Publication Ethics

The International Journal for Research in Medical Science (IJRMS), published by Green Publication Services Private Limited, is committed to maintaining high standards of research integrity, transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct throughout the editorial, peer review, and publication processes.

Publication Ethics and Best Practices

IJRMS follows established principles of responsible scholarly publishing and is guided by the ethical principles and best-practice recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal applies these principles to editorial decision-making, peer review, authorship, research integrity, conflicts of interest, corrections, retractions, and other publication-related matters.

The journal periodically reviews its editorial and publication policies to support continuous improvement in academic quality and ethical standards. Authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and readers are encouraged to raise concerns or provide feedback relating to research integrity and publication ethics.

Editorial and Peer Review Integrity

Manuscripts that meet the journal's initial editorial requirements are considered for double-blind peer review. Where peer review is undertaken, manuscripts are evaluated by independent reviewers with appropriate subject expertise. The review process is intended to provide an objective assessment of the manuscript's scientific quality, methodological soundness, originality, clarity, relevance, and contribution to medical science.

Editorial decisions are made independently on the basis of scholarly and ethical considerations. Editors and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and avoid using unpublished information obtained through the review process for personal or professional advantage.

Editorial staff may make minor technical, formatting, grammatical, or language corrections where necessary to improve readability and presentation, provided that such changes do not alter the intellectual meaning or scholarly content of the work.

Research Misconduct Policy

IJRMS follows relevant COPE guidance when concerns or allegations relating to research or publication misconduct are identified. Research misconduct or serious publication-ethics concerns may include, but are not limited to:

  • Duplicate submission, duplicate publication, or redundant publication.
  • Plagiarism or inappropriate reuse of text, data, figures, images, or ideas without appropriate acknowledgment.
  • Fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation of research data or results.
  • Citation manipulation or other practices intended to improperly influence the scholarly record.
  • Unethical or disputed authorship and contributorship practices.
  • Failure to appropriately disclose relevant conflicts of interest.
  • Other practices that may compromise the reliability or integrity of the scholarly record.

When a concern is raised by an author, reviewer, editor, reader, institution, or other legitimate source, the editorial office conducts an appropriate preliminary assessment. Where necessary, the authors are contacted and given an opportunity to respond, provide clarification, and submit relevant supporting information or documentation.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the concern, the journal may take appropriate action, which can include requesting clarification, rejecting a manuscript, issuing a correction, publishing an expression of concern, or retracting a published article. Actions concerning published articles are taken with the objective of maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

Where a matter cannot be adequately resolved through the editorial process, or where institutional investigation is considered necessary, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant author's affiliated institution or other appropriate authority, consistent with applicable ethical publishing practices.

Authorship and Contributorship

Authors are expected to make substantial scholarly contributions to the work and to take responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their contributions. All individuals listed as authors should meet appropriate authorship criteria, while individuals who contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged where applicable.

IJRMS does not permit inappropriate authorship practices, including honorary, guest, or ghost authorship. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the author list accurately reflects the contributions made to the research and manuscript.

Authorship Changes Policy

IJRMS follows relevant COPE recommendations when considering requests to change authorship. Requests may be submitted before or after publication and may involve:

  • Addition of an author.
  • Removal of an author.
  • Change of corresponding author.
  • Change in the order of authors.

Any request for an authorship change must be submitted in writing and must include a clear explanation of the reason for the requested change. Written agreement from all listed authors, including any author being added or removed, is required before an authorship change is normally considered for approval.

Where all authors agree and the requested change is appropriately justified, the journal may implement the change following editorial review. If the authors cannot reach agreement, the journal may suspend consideration of the manuscript or place a published article under review until the matter is resolved. Where appropriate, the issue may be referred to the relevant affiliated institution for investigation.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern and Retractions

IJRMS is committed to preserving the accuracy and reliability of the published scholarly record. When a significant error, ethical concern, or integrity issue is identified after publication, the journal may publish an appropriate correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with the circumstances and relevant ethical publishing guidance.

Post-publication notices will be linked to the affected article where appropriate so that readers can clearly identify the status and nature of the published record.

Commitment to Research Integrity

IJRMS and Green Publication Services Private Limited remain committed to responsible, transparent, and ethical scholarly publishing and to protecting the integrity of the academic record.
